FireRock Country Club in Fountain Hills: the course, amenities, homes, and membership

Your vision, your home, our expertise.

FireRock Country Club sits on the south side of Fountain Hills, built around an 18-hole, par 72 course that Gary Panks designed and that opened in 2000. It measures 7,014 yards from the Black tees. Two homes in the FireRock neighborhood closed in September 2026, at $1,170,000 and $1,670,000. If you are weighing a home in or near the club, here is what the course, the clubhouse, the homes, and the membership picture look like, using only what is published.

The short answer FireRock Country Club is a private club in Fountain Hills with an 18-hole Gary Panks course that opened in 2000, plus tennis, pickleball, fitness, a pool, and clubhouse dining. The surrounding FireRock neighborhood is gated, with custom homes and townhome enclaves. The club does not publish membership fees or rules on its website, so contact the club directly for current terms.

The course and the clubhouse

The Panks layout runs through the foothills on the south end of town, with Bermuda grass fairways and bent grass greens, and practice areas that include a driving range, a putting green, and a short game area (GolfN). A 73.0 rating and 138 slope from the back tees put it on the demanding end for many players, and shorter tee sets are available.

The club's website describes a bar and grill, a dining room, and a terrace that runs the full length of the clubhouse and looks over the 18th hole toward Red Mountain. It also lists interest groups it calls clubs within a club, with golf outings, holiday events, bridge, and book clubs.

How ownership and membership work

In 2013, the members bought the club from its previous owners and hired Troon Privé to manage operations, according to a 2014 Fountain Hills Times report. That same report listed several membership types, including golf, occasional golf, sports and clubhouse, social, and dining, and said living in the FireRock community was not required. Those details are more than ten years old. The club's current website does not publish membership categories, initiation fees, dues, or waitlist status. It offers a contact form instead. Treat any fee figure you see on another website as unverified until the club confirms it in writing.

The homes around the club

The FireRock neighborhood is gated. A community page from AZ Golf Homes, updated in 2023, describes 379 custom home sites plus three townhome enclaves, Balera, The Villas, and The Overlook. So buyers here are usually choosing between a custom single family home on a larger lot and a lower maintenance townhome.

The two September sales show how wide the spread can be within one neighborhood. The Jacklin Drive home has 3,856 square feet and sold for about $303 per square foot. The Nicklaus Drive home has 3,623 square feet and sold for about $461 per square foot. Views, golf frontage, lot position, and the age of finishes all move price here.

Location and services

FireRock sits in the Town of Fountain Hills, which borders Scottsdale to the west. The town is served by Fountain Hills Unified School District #98, according to the Town of Fountain Hills, so confirm the assignment for any address with the district. The town's namesake fountain sprays to about 300 feet for roughly fifteen minutes each hour.

What it means for a buyer

  • Separate the house from the club. Buying in FireRock and joining FireRock Country Club are two different decisions. Ask the club directly what categories are open, what each costs, and whether there is a waitlist.
  • Ask whether a membership conveys. Some listings in golf communities say a membership comes with the home. Get that in writing from the club, not just the listing remarks.
  • Read both sets of documents. Review the community association CC&Rs and fees and any club bylaws or membership agreement as separate items during your inspection period.
  • Compare price per square foot, not just price. On the two September sales, the gap was about $158 per square foot (calculated by Arizona Luxury Partners). Find out why before you anchor on either number.
  • Check the course schedule. The 2014 report noted the course closes for overseeding after the main season. Ask about this year's dates if timing matters to you.

Avoid this mistake: budgeting for the home and forgetting the club. Initiation, dues, food minimums, and assessments can be a real monthly cost, and FireRock does not publish them. Get current figures from the club before you set your budget.

The honest caveats

Two sales in one month is a very small sample and does not make a market trend. The Redfin town median covers all of Fountain Hills, not FireRock alone. Course facts come from GolfPass and GolfN, and the yardage differs slightly between GolfPass's tee table and its scorecard. Ownership and membership details come from a 2014 news report and a 2023 community page, so they may have changed. Membership costs and rules are not published by the club. Call the club before you rely on any of them.
