The story of the Cheery Lynn Historic District

How the area came to be.

The Cheery Lynn subdivision was recorded in 1928 with 80 lots and developed on speculation by William Fosburg, with local designer and builder M.E. Carr overseeing design and construction. In 1932 Fosburg transferred the project to H.M. Strough, who built about 23 houses before his death in 1938. Early homes were advertised as 'ultra modern English type homes'; English Tudor and cottage styles led through 1930, Spanish and Monterey Revival took over in the 1930s, and ranch homes filled in after World War II.

The City of Phoenix designated the district in February 1994, and it was listed on the National Register on December 21, 1994. It is bounded by 16th St, Randolph Rd, Earll Dr and Flower St.
