The story of the Earll Place Historic District

How the area came to be.

Arthur Edwin (A.E.) Earll subdivided his land north of McDowell Road and east of 16th Street in February 1927, laying out Earll Place from 16th Street to 18th Street with lots on Pinchot Avenue and Earll Drive. Earll built at least 20 homes on speculation; George McGinnis built most of the Tudor and bungalow homes and C.W. Harvey built the Spanish Revival homes. The City of Phoenix designated the district in April 2003, and it was listed on the National Register on June 9, 2006, covering 1620 to 1722 E Pinchot Ave and 1617 to 1731 and 1736 E Earll Dr.
