The story of the North 32nd Street Corridor
How the area came to be.
The land along north 32nd Street stayed mostly untouched until the mid 1960s, when the road through the Dreamy Draw pass let water and sewer lines reach the north valley. Subdivisions followed, including Melrose Paradise (1961) and Paradise Valley Oasis (1962), and the Paradise Hills Shopping Center opened in 1962. After community workshops and studies (a ULI technical panel and an ASU report in 2012), the Phoenix City Council adopted the North 32nd Policy Plan on December 3, 2014 to guide land use, transportation and branding along the corridor.
