8 central Phoenix restaurants worth a visit near Arcadia, Biltmore, and Melrose

Your vision, your home, our expertise.

When the first MICHELIN Guide Southwest came out on August 26, 2026, Arizona earned 7 of its 18 Bib Gourmands, more than any other state. One of them, Valentine, sits on Seventh Avenue in central Phoenix. Pair that with the Phoenix New Times top 50 list from August, and a clear pattern shows up: a lot of the Valley's most talked about cooking is clustered in a handful of central Phoenix ZIP codes. Here are eight of those restaurants, where they are, and what homes nearby cost.

The short answer Eight central Phoenix and Paradise Valley restaurants appear on the Phoenix New Times top 50 list dated August 20, 2026: Vecina, Beckett's Table, Glai Baan, Tratto, INDIBAR, Valentine, Brasserie Melrose, and Restaurant Progress. Four of them are also in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Southwest. They cluster in three pockets: Arcadia (85018), the Biltmore area (85016), and the Melrose District (85013), with INDIBAR just over the line in Paradise Valley.

Vecina, 3433 N. 56th St.

Beckett's Table, 3717 E. Indian School Road

Beckett's Table has been open more than 15 years, run by owners Katie and Scott Stephens and Justin and Michelle Beckett, according to Phoenix New Times. The Biltmore area: Glai Baan and Tratto

Two of the central Phoenix MICHELIN Recommended picks sit a short drive apart in ZIP code 85016, which takes in Biltmore area homes for sale.

Glai Baan, 2333 E. Osborn Road

Phoenix New Times says Glai Baan, whose name translates to far from home, focuses on Thai street food and regional cooking from northeastern Thailand, led by chef and co owner Pornsupak "Cat" Bunnag. It is also MICHELIN Recommended. Its site says dinner reservations are by phone only and lunch is first come, first served.

Tratto, 4743 N. 20th St.

Chris Bianco's trattoria on 20th Street was named the top Italian restaurant in metro Phoenix by Phoenix New Times, which singles out its pastas made with local flours. It is MICHELIN Recommended and open Tuesday through Saturday, 5 to 9 p.m., per its website. Nearby homes for sale in 85016 sold at a 12 month median of $567,673, a figure that blends condos with single family homes. Close by, Arizona Biltmore homes for sale sit at a very different price point: 13 sales at a $3,300,000 median as of November 4, 2026.

Paradise Valley: INDIBAR

INDIBAR, 6208 N. Scottsdale Road

INDIBAR took over the former Rancho Pinot space in March 2025, according to Phoenix New Times, which placed it in the special occasion section. It is MICHELIN Recommended. Its site lists dinner daily from 4 to 10 p.m. and weekend lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It sits on the Paradise Valley side of Scottsdale Road, where Paradise Valley homes for sale closed at a 12 month median of $3,812,500.

The Melrose District: Valentine, Brasserie Melrose, and Restaurant Progress

Seventh Avenue north of Indian School Road has three of the eight restaurants within a short walk or drive of each other. Valentine and Brasserie Melrose both list ZIP code 85013, where homes for sale in 85013 sold at a 12 month median of $525,000 on 238 sales.

Valentine, 4130 N. Seventh Ave.

Valentine is the area's MICHELIN Bib Gourmand. Phoenix New Times describes farm to table cooking as its guiding idea and calls it a celebration of Arizona. Its website lists Wednesday through Sunday from 8 a.m., closed Monday and Tuesday.

Brasserie Melrose, 4971 N. Seventh Ave.

The newest restaurant here, Brasserie Melrose made the Phoenix New Times new and noteworthy section. The paper says it opened in December as an all day cafe and is known for its pastry case, weekend brunch, and classic French dinners. Its site lists the bakery Wednesday through Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., closed Monday and Tuesday, with limited on site parking and street parking on Mariposa Street.

Restaurant Progress, 702 W. Montecito Ave.

Restaurant Progress occupies the easternmost suite of the historic Wagon Wheel building, with a back patio, per Phoenix New Times, which placed it in the special occasion section. Its site notes it has been open since 2017 and takes reservations online. This part of town sits within the broader North Central Phoenix homes for sale area.

What it means if you are house hunting

Restaurants are not a pricing tool, but they are a useful lens on how central Phoenix is laid out. The three dining pockets above line up with three very different housing markets. Arcadia and 85018 sit at seven figure medians. 85016 mixes Biltmore area condos with single family streets, which pulls its median down. 85013 and the Melrose area have the lowest median of the three. Across the whole city, Phoenix homes for sale closed at a 12 month median of $440,000 as of November 6, 2026.

Practical steps

  • Drive the area at dinner time. If you are weighing a home near Seventh Avenue, Indian School Road, or Camelback Road, visit on a Friday evening and again on a weekday morning to see traffic and parking.
  • Check hours before you go. Several of these restaurants close Mondays, and Valentine and Brasserie Melrose also close Tuesdays.
  • Compare like with like. When you look at a ZIP code median, check how many of the sales were condos versus single family homes. Our ZIP and community pages break out current listings and supply.
  • Avoid this mistake: assuming a home is walkable to a restaurant because it shares a ZIP code. 85018 and 85016 each cover several miles. Map the actual route from the front door.

The honest caveats

Restaurant lists are snapshots. The Phoenix New Times list is dated August 20, 2026, and the MICHELIN selections were announced August 26, 2026; restaurants open, move, and change hours, so confirm with each one before you go. We did not visit, rate, or review any of these restaurants, and leaving a place off this list says nothing about it. The home price figures are 12 month medians from ARMLS data on our site, and small samples, such as 13 sales in Arizona Biltmore, can swing a lot from month to month. Prices also vary block by block within every ZIP code here.
